I am so happy to finally share with you my secret little project I was working on for quite some time – Emma’s Big Girl Room makeover! It is official – Bye bye baby – hello big double trouble two-nager!
I thought a lot about how I will decorate her room when we move to our new house because she’ll be nearly two years old. I didn’t want to do a baby room because she wasn’t baby anymore and I planned to come up with a modern toddler room with no need to redecorate way too soon. I knew I wanted to stay true to our monochrome aesthetic and to keep it clean, minimal and timeless with Nordic vibes. I started to work my idea with key elements down to the smallest decoration details. I hand-picked the furniture in neutral colours (birch or white matte wood) while injecting colour in accessories, toys and little objects. I love playing with details and texture so I looked for exactly that when I was browsing and creating my mood board.
The stand out piece which caught my eye was the Montessori housebed from SweetHomefromWood. My hubby put it together in no less than 10 mins! I chose birch wood and I also got the slats so the mattress is not directly on the floor. I instantly fell in love with it because it felt like a great transition between the baby cot and toddler bed, without the fear of rolling over. It also adds the dreamy factor which is great for children’s imagination. I might get the house bed cover in the future, I think she would love this!
(She slept through the first night we installed the bed and had no problem with the transition! Trust me, super surprising because she is very attached to her routine and every trip with sleepover has been a nightmare.)

I love bedding so I could go a little crazy. Monochrome sheets are from OYOY Living Design and the quality is insane. Can I trade please? I love how soft they are and they don’t crease. Winners! My favourites from this pillow family are Gautier Studio, Malia Mu et Fine Little day.
I love this playful corner with her new retro kitchen from Kid Kraft. We got many cooking ingredients and appliance so she can have fun with her cooking:) The zig-zag cube shelves are from IKEA and you basically arrange them as you like. Her room is medium sized so I wanted to use the space wisely without crowding the room. There is this small corner next to her window so it was a perfect fit for a nice display of books and toys to create a unique library. (My husband hated me when we realized he has to drill many MANY holes but it was all worth it)
Emma loves drawing so I knew I wanted to find a blackboard for her room and OYOY Living Design had this round one I knew would be perfect for the space. Hooks with baskets are from Gautier Studio and you can display them as you like. We use these fun baskets to store many many wooden cubes I didn’t know where to store.
Let’s talk storage. I mean, how many things a two year old needs? MANY. The room is never clean and you just have to deal with it. That is why I love baskets and bags because you can move them where you like and they don’t take so much space. For example I put some on the top of her wardrobe so I don’t keep everything on the floor.

When thinking about other design elements, I knew I want to play with texture, design and pattern. My favourite pieces are wooden art, like this Diamond lamp from Gautier Studio or below Wooden hanging Puzzle or Raindrop mobile from OYOY Living Design.
Et voilà, the tour of the new toddler crib is over. I tried to link everything but if you have any questions or you are wondering about an item you like, let me know in comments below and I will get back to you! I would love to hear what you think:)
